Fields of Omagh book launched at Moonee Valley saturday! PDF Print E-mail
"He's got there!"

Three simple words with a lot of history behind them. The story of a horse.

Fields Of Omagh, the thoroughbred hero who on October 28, 2006 dived on the line to win his second W.S Cox Plate, Australia's most prestigious test of equine class.

Hitting the shops this week is his new book "Fields Of Omagh" written by journalist Kristen Manning. Published by Melbourne Books who enjoyed previous success with the racing titles "Darby McCarthy: Against All Odds" and "Greg Hall: Ride To Win," the story of the beloved racehorse Fields Of Omagh is one that will entertain racing and horse fans alike.

Fields Of Omagh was not the best horse to win the Cox Plate, not the most famous. But his story of durability, courage and toughness takes us beyond the racetrack. To the tales of his three trainers, his 18 enthusiastic owners, his dedicated vet, to the many people behind the scenes who helped get a crippled horse to the track.

Back to the races after two major break downs, to contest five consecutive Cox Plates, to win two of them. To win 13 races and over $6.49 million in stakes. To travel around the world - to Dubai, Hong Kong and Japan.

To the story of the owner diagnosed with cancer who credits Fields Of Omagh with bringing her back from the edge of despair. To another whose husband passed away and to whom Fields Of Omagh became a saviour.

To those whose lives were changed because of the deeds of a horse. One very special horse. Fields Of Omagh.

"Fields Of Omagh" the book will be officially launched at this Saturday's Moonee Valley Manikato Stakes meeting. Fields Of Omagh will be in attendance as will writer Kristen Manning and Fields Of Omagh's connections.

A stamp has been made of Fields Of Omagh's hoof so he can sign his biography! A percentage of proceeds of all books sold at Moonee Valley on Saturday will donated to "Living Legends" -  home to Fields Of Omagh.
